Car wash software for Kampala car washes

Kampala's roads are busy, dusty and often muddy, which keeps car washes in work all year. CarwashManage helps Kampala owners run the day from check-in to collection, track attendants and see every payment recorded. It is built by a team in Nairobi, in the same time zone as you.

  • Currency: UGX
  • Payments: MTN Mobile Money & Airtel Money
  • Supported - payments recorded manually

The car wash scene in Kampala

Kampala is a city of hills and heavy traffic. Boda bodas weave between taxis (the shared minibuses), private cars and delivery trucks. Red murram dust on the side roads coats cars in the dry spells, and the frequent rains turn it into mud.

Car washes are everywhere: near fuel stations, on plots beside main roads and inside residential areas. You will find them around Ntinda, Bukoto, Kololo, Nakawa, Kansanga, Wandegeya and out towards Kireka. Many also wash boda bodas, which can be a big share of the jobs on a busy day.

A typical Kampala wash has a team of young attendants, a cashier or supervisor, and an owner who checks in by phone. Keeping track of how many cars each attendant washed, and what was paid, is the daily headache.

Why car washes in Kampala use software

  • Lots of small jobs

Boda boda washes are quick and cheap, but they add up. Fast check-in with a plate photo means you can log each one, so they appear in your daily totals and attendant commissions.

  • Attendants sharing cars

When two or three people work on one car, pay gets confusing. Assign staff to each job and the system works out commissions for you.

  • Owners away from the wash

Many Kampala owners run the wash as a side business. Follow check-ins, payments and expenses from your phone, and view your IP cameras if you have them installed.

  • Customers waiting in traffic

Customers can see whether their car is ready on a public tracking page using their phone number and plate, and you can send a WhatsApp notification when it is done.

Mobile money in Kampala

In Uganda most customers pay with MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, usually to a merchant code or a staff number, and cash is still common. Prices are in Uganda shillings (UGX).

CarwashManage does not have a built-in MTN or Airtel Money integration today. Instead, the cashier records each payment against the wash and picks the method, such as MTN MoMo, Airtel Money or cash. Reports then split revenue by method, so you can compare the totals with your mobile money statements at closing. The app currently labels amounts in Kenyan shillings (KES), so please talk to our team about local-currency display before you subscribe.

Available in Kampala, with manual payment recording

Every operations feature works in Kampala: check-in, the queue, photo proof, commissions, inventory, expenses, loyalty, reports, multi-branch, customer tracking and WhatsApp notifications. What is different is money: payments are entered by hand and amounts display in KES for now. Our support team works remotely from Nairobi by WhatsApp, phone and email, and Kampala is on the same East Africa Time. Subscriptions are billed in KES, so contact us about billing options.

Car wash software in Kampala: questions

Can I use it for boda boda washes as well as cars?

Yes. Set up boda boda washes as a service with their own price and check them in the same way as cars, so attendants get credit for them.

Does it connect directly to MTN Mobile Money?

Not today. You record MoMo payments manually against each wash, and reports show your MoMo total so you can check it against your statement.

How do I pay for the subscription from Uganda?

Plans are billed in Kenyan shillings. Get in touch and we will talk you through the billing options available from Uganda.
